On May 21, 1949, a tornado swept through Shelburn, Ind., killing 11 residents. Richard McHugh, ’51, writes about that experience in his new book, “Blown Away.” He also wrote an essay on that experience for Indiana State University Magazine. The Indiana State University Foundation recently honored Todd and Beth ’97 Whitaker, The Bernard Osher Foundation and Robert ’76 and Joan ’75 Shenberger with the 2012 MARCH ON! Awards. The foundation also recognized Ruby (Shelton) Rusk ’60 with the 2012 John P. Newton Spirit of ISU Award.
